Hello.
I’m Larry Wayne, born in Chicago, vintage ’25.
Jazz was going strong then, but I didn’t know.
How could a nice white boy on the north side
know anything about those great black bands
on the south side? I really didn’t find out until
many years later and then—
I got hooked !
As a D.J in Houston, Texas, I inherited a program
called "Dixie Downbeat", and that’s when I met
a few jazz notables including Jack Teagarden.
